DANE BROWN SCORES 4 AS LION KINGS LASH NAUTICA 5-1 9.8.2011 – Dane Brown scored four times as Lion King lashed Nautica 5-1 at Collie Smith Drive in the 8th round of the JNBS Masters League. Nautica took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute on a goal by Desmond Smith. But Idi Flemming equalized for Lion Kings in the 31st minute, and it was all Dane Brown from there as he banged-in four unanswered goals (34th, 47th, 75th and 76th) to complete the Lion Kings' 5-1 rout. In the Collie Smith Drive feature game, Boys' Town edged Maxfield 1-0 on Robert Scott's 42nd minute goal. It was Scott's 6th goal of the season as Maxfield suffered their first loss of the 2011 masters league campaign. Zone B leaders Cavalier continued their crusade to the JNBS Mid-season final with an impressive 3-2 win over Christian Ambassadors at Duhaney Park oval. Donovan Evans, David Laylor, and Mark Malcolm scored for Cavalier, while last season's MVP, Phillip Riley, netted both goals for the Ambassadors.
Pelicans (black) 0 Brown's Town 0 In the Duhaney Park opener, host Park Rovers shutout Eastern 2-0 on goals by Jerome Wilson and Owen McKay. Ace striker Mark Miller scored a brace as Police Nationals blanked Kush 2-0 at Constant Spring oval to hand Kush their 7th loss of the season in as many games.
In the Constant Spring feature, O'Neil "Chippy" McDonald scored two fine goals as Constant Spring came from behind to edge Santos 2-1. Leroy Brown gave Santos a 1-0 lead in the 43rd minute before McDonald sealed the Constant Spring win with goals in the 69th and 79th minute. Barbican recovered from their surprising 7th round loss to Park Rovers with an easy 2-0 win over St. George's at Barbican Oval. Jason Cunningham and veteran Wayne Whonder scored for the defending champions.
Meanwhile, in the Barbican oval feature game, zone A leaders Kingston Commissioners nipped MV Exodus 2-1 to remain in the hunt for a place in the September mid-season final. Telecom Strikers scored a dramatic 2-1 come-from-behind win over Thunderbolts at Buttercup Park. David Jones gave Thunderbolts a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute. However, late second half goals from Desmond Adams in the 57th minute, and an opportune 74th minute game winner by Delroy Morris sealed the exciting 2-1 win for Telecom.

It was Morris' league leading 8th goal of the season, and the win pushed Telecom Strikers to a very close 3rd in zone A with 14 points, the same as 2nd place Park Rovers, and 1 point behind the zone leader Kingston Commissioners, who have 15 points. Also at Buttercup Park, Packers registered a hard fought 1-0 upset win over hosts Real Mona. Former Jamaican international, Donald "Foley" Stewart, got the only goal of the game in 12th minute. Harbour View, playing a consistent passing game, shut-out Washington Strikers 3-0 at Vauxhall oval. Kirk Williams, Michael Hanchard, and Christopher Salmon scored for the "stars of the east". The JNBS Masters League continues on Sunday, August 14, with twelve round 9 games. The feature game of the round is the 4:30 pm UWI Bowl "group of death" (zone B) encounter between impressive and unbeaten debutants Police Nationals, and Pelicans. Cavalier leads the "group of death" with 16 points, followed by Constant Spring 14, Police Nationals 13, and Pelicans and Lion Kings on 12 points, respectively, with Real Mona just behind on 11 points. In zone A, Kingston Commissioners are in front with 15 points, followed by Park Rovers and Telecom Strikers with 14, respectively, and champions Barbican on 13 points. Boys' Town, riding the scoring power of striker Robert Scott who has 6 goals, are edging up the zone A tables, and are 5th with 10 points.
Washington Strikers (red) 0 Harbour View 3 The preliminary rounds of the JNBS masters FA Cup continues on Thursday night, August 11, with two games at 7:00 pm. At Barbican oval, Kush (0-0-7) meets Maxfield (2-4-1), and will have to reverse their poor league form to deny Maxfield a place in the Round of 16. At Winchester Park, Police Nationals tackle St. George's, and based upon their unbeaten league form, Police Nationals are favored to also advance to the Round of 16.
