Barbican's Denton Shedden scored a brace

cAVALIER MARCH ON WITH 3-1 WIN OVER SANTOS 22.8.2011 – Cavalier came from behind to score a text-book 3-1 win over Santos at Bell Chung Oval on Sunday in round 10 of the JNBS Masters League. Winston Pusey put Santos ahead 1-0 in the 11th minute, but versatile midfielder David Laylor registered a first-half brace with George Smith scoring the other for the winners in the 76th minute.
Brown's Town has made a bold move for a place in the quarter-finals under manager Carl Russell by winning 3 of their last 4 games. The win kept Cavalier in pole position of "the group of death" (zone B) with 21 points, and firmly on course for a place in the JNBS Mid-season final later this month. In the Bell Chung oval opener, Boys' Town edged Eastern 1-0 on a Winston Murray goal in the 63rd minute.
The men in the middle At Vauxhall Oval, Telecom Strikers assumed leadership of a tightly knit zone A with a 1-0 win over Washington Strikers. Delroy Watson scored the lone goal of the game in the 52nd minute. In the Vauxhall Oval feature game, Brown's Town came from a goal down to nip Real Mona 2-1. Nick Ziadie's 11th minute strike gave Real Mona a short lived 1-0 lead as Donovan Green leveled the score 1-1 in the 13th minute. Ricardo Douglas gave the hosts the game winner in the 34th minute to push Brown's Town into 3rd place in the well contested zone B.
Up at Barbican Oval, defending triple-champions Barbican tore apart MV Exodus 4-1 as both Denton Shedden and Godfrey Bolton scored twice for the champions. Derrick Gray got a consolation goal for MV Exodus. Constant Spring mauled Nautica 5-1 in the Barbican curtain-raiser. O'Neil "Chippy" McDonald and Gregory Hylton both had a brace, while Brenton Smith completed the 5-1 rout for the winners.
2010 MVP and Rookie-of-the-Year, Phillip Riley, came to life at Winchester Park as he scored twice to give Christian Ambassadors a narrow 2-1 win over Kush. It was Kush 8th loss of the season as they remained rooted at the bottom of the dreaded "Group-of-Death" with zero points. Also at Winchester Park, host St. George's tagged Thunderbolts 2-1 as Garfield Riley scored his 8th goal of the season for the winners. JNBS golden boot leaders, 10th round
Over at Shortwood Oval, Police Nationals and Packers played to a nil-all draw, while hosts Shortwood out-scored Maxfield 3-1. Both games at UWI Bowl were drawn as host Pelicans and Portmore Masters ended 0-0, and Harbour View and Park Rovers battled to an exciting 2-2 draw. With no games scheduled on Sunday, August 28 due to the unavailability of the JFRA officials, the JNBS Masters League continues this Thursday, August 25 with two rescheduled games.
