BROWN'S TOWN & SANTOS CLASH IN JNBS FA CUP OPENER 29.5.2012 – The 2012 JNBS Masters FA Cup knockout competition gets underway on Thursday night with two games. At Winchester Park, Brown's town and Santos clash, while at Barbican Oval, Thunderbolts tackle Packers. Both games begin at 7:00 pm.

Santos knocked-out Brown's town on penalties in the Round of 16 of of the inaugural FA Cup last season, sent thunderbolts packing 4-0 in the quarter-finals, edged Packers 3-2 on penalties in the preliminary round, and went on to the championship final where they lost 3-0 to champions Constant Spring.

Meanwhile, the opening day of the 2012 JNBS Masters League takes place on Sunday, June 3 at Barbican Oval. The day's activities begin at 2:00 pm with the annual dress parade where Portmore Masters seek their fourth straight parade title. At 3:00 pm, Chris James of Barbican, the most successful coach in corporate area masters league history with seven league titles, will be inducted into the Kingston and St. Andrew Masters Football League Association (KSAMLA) Hall of Fame. And at 3:30 pm, Constant Spring tackles Telecom Strikers in defense of their champions cup title.

Former Jamaican international GK, Julian McLeish (R), made a successful masters league debut as he led Telecom Strikers to a 4-3 penalty-kick win over host Santos.

telecom 4-3 on penalties over santos in cup play-off  21.5.2012 – Telecom Strikers booked their place in the 2012 JNBS Champions Cup with an exciting 4-3 penalty-kick win over Santos on Sunday at the Bell Chung Oval. The win gave Telecom a place in the June 3 Champions cup against defending champions Constant Spring at Barbican Oval.

Telecom Strikers went ahead 1-0 in the 13th minute on a fine goal by Tyrone Davis. Santos drew level in the 29th minute on an own-goal for a 1-1 score at the half.

An even second-half, plus 20 minutes of pulsating extra-time was unable to separate the teams. However, former Jamaican international goalkeeper, Julian McLeish, making his masters league debut, secured the win for Telecom with two brilliant penalty-kick saves.

Another former Jamaican international, Paul "Tegat" Davis, also made his JNBS masters league debut for Santos by playing all 100 minutes, but was contained by the vigilant Telecom defense.

Arnett Gardens FC Head Coach, Paul "Tegat" Davis (L), will be making his JNBS Masters League debut for Santos, while Notteden FK Academy Coach, Altimont "Freddie" Butler will suit-up for Harbour View.

Managing Director of Bull Investment Limited, Wayne Gentles (L) , presents the leading goal scorer Golden Boot to Ian Burnett of Santos. Burnett won both of the leading goal scorer awards for the League (11 goals) and KO Competition (4 goals).


Park Rovers will be holding a Fund Raiser at the Barbican Beach Oval on Sunday, May 27 from 4 pm to 10 pm. Admission $800.

 

SANTOS & TELECOM CLASH IN JNBS MASTERS CUP PLAY-OFF 18.5.2012 – Santos and Telecom Strikers clash on Sunday, May 20, at the Bell Chung Oval at 3:30 pm for the right to challenge Constant Spring in the JNBS Champions Cup on Opening Day of the Kingston and St. Andrew masters league.

Santos have won two of the three previous encounters with Telecom Strikers. Santos won 2-0 in 2008, Telecom edged Santos 2-1 in 2009,  and Santos again won 2-0 in 2010.

The Santos attack will be led by former Jamaican international Paul "Tegat" Davis, the head coach of Arnett Gardens FC, who will be making his JNBS masters league debut. Davis' strike partner is the inform Ian Burnett, the Sports Editor of the Jamaica Observer, who recently won the Golden Boot in the Bull Investment Golden League with  a season high 15 goals. Santos were the runners-up to Constant Spring in the inaugural 2011 JNBS Masters FA Cup.

Telecom Striker, who finished second to Constant Spring in the 2011 JNBS Masters League, will be led by former Jamaican international goalkeeper Julian McLeish, and by former Jamaica youth player Tyrone Davis. Both McLeish and Tyrone Davis will be making their masters league debut.

Meanwhile, to facilitate attendance to the Jamaica-Panama International friendly at "The Office" on Sunday, May 27, the Kingston and St. Andrew Masters Football League Association (KSAMLA) has moved its Opening Day from May 27 to Sunday, June 3 at Barbican Oval.

On this season's KSAMLA Opening Day, all twenty-six participating teams in the 2012 JNBS masters league will parade in the annual Dress Parade, Barbican's Chris James will be inducted into the Masters League Hall of Fame, and either Santos or Telecom Strikers will face Constant spring in the Champions Cup. Portmore Masters will be seeking their fourth straight Dress Parade title. 

JNBS Sales Development Specialist, Michael Collins, was the Guest Speaker at the KSAMLA annual teams meeting and draw for zone positions last Thursday at the JFF headquarters in New Kingston.

CONSTANT SPRING HEADS 9 FORMER CHAMPIONS IN THE "GROUP OF DEATH" 30.4.2012 – With the 2012 JNBS Masters League less than a month away from its grand May 27 opening-day football extravaganza, involving the dress parade, KSAMLA Hall of Fame induction, and the Champions Cup, this season's Zone A League fixtures give new meaning to the term, "The Group of Death".

Zone A, headed by the defending champions, Constant Spring, has nine former Kingston and St. Andrew masters league champions; Constant Spring (2011), Barbican (1998, 2001-2002, 2005, 2008-2010), Park Rovers (2007), Nautica (2006), Shortwood (2004), Harbour View (1991), Kush (1992, 1999), Thunderbolts (1995-1997), and Santos (1986-1987). Zone B is led by the 2011 masters league runners-up, Telecom Strikers.

Former Jamaican international striker, Paul "Tegat" Davis, the coach of Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) outfit Arnett Gardens, is set to make his rookie debut in the JNBS masters league for either Santos or Real Veterans. Also making his debut for Real Veterans is former Jamaican international midfield ace, Byron Earle, who had a wonderful season as a member of theArnett Gardens team in the 2011-2012 RSPL.

Real Veterans, formerly Washington Strikers, have restructured their masters program, and will be playing their home games at the Tony Spaulding stadium.

Meanwhile, the preliminary round of the 2012 JNBS Masters FA Cup knockout competition kicks-off on Wednesday, May 30 at Barbican Oval with Thunderbolts tackling Packers at 7:00 pm. Constant Spring are the defending masters KO champions.

2012 JNBS MASTERS LEAGUE KICKS-OFF MAY 27 24.4.2012 – The 2012 edition of the Jamaica National Building society (JNBS) sponsored Kingston and St. Andrew Masters football League kicks-off on Sunday, May 27 at Barbican Oval with the annual opening-day Dress Parade, the Hall of Fame Induction of Chris James of Barbican FC, and the 2012 JNBS Champions Cup game at 4:00 pm .

James, the most successful masters’ league manager with seven league titles, will join Peter Cargill, Ruddy Thelwell, Trevor “Jumpy” Harris, Arnold “Dulu” McDonald, and Delroy Seixas in the Kingston and St. Andrew Masters Football League Association (KSAMLA) Hall of Fame. Portmore Masters will be seeking their fourth straight KSAMLA dress parade title, while Constant Spring will defend their champions’ cup crown against the winner of a May 20 play-off between Santos and Telecom Strikers.

The JNBS Masters FA Cup knock-out competition begins with the preliminary rounds on Wednesday, May 30 at Winchester Park. Constant Spring are the defending FA cup champions.

Meanwhile, the KSAMLA teams’ meeting, and the draw for both the League and KO will be held on Thursday, April 26 at 7:00 pm at the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Conference Room.

The twenty-six (26) teams invited to KSAMLA competitions this season are: Constant Spring (defending quadruple champions); Barbican; Boys' Town; Brown's Town; Christian Ambassadors; Eastern; Cavalier; Kingston Commissioners; Kush; Lion Kings; Maxfield; MV Exodus; Nautica; Packers; Park Rovers; Pelicans;  Portmore Masters; Harbour View; Real Mona; Santos; Shortwood; St. George's; Telecom Strikers;  Thunderbolts; Real Veterans (formerly Washington Strikers); and Police Nationals.

O'NEIL MCDONALD is THE 2011 JNBS MASTERS LEAGUE mvP & ROOKIE OF THE YEAR 23.1.2012 – Constant Spring's ace striker, O'Neil "Chippy" McDonald, a former Jamaican international, captured the 2011 JNBS Masters League MVP and Rookie of the Year awards last Thursday at the League's awards presentation. McDonald scored 14 goals for the season, and led Constant Spring to an unprecedented sweep of all four titles in the JNBS sponsored Kingston and St. Andrew Masters League Association (KSAMLA) competitions.  more
